Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. It mainly affects middle-aged or older adults who is not contagious. The breathing problems gradually worsen over time and can limit normal activities, particularly if smoking exposure continues. Two main conditions involved in COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Main symptoms of COPD include:

Increasing breathlessness
Cough with phlegm
Frequent chest infections
Persistent wheezing
